Rhue Jacob Webster's Obituary
Papa Roo\r\n\r\nOur loving husband, dad, grandpa, great-grandpa and friend passed away on July 28th, 2018.\r\n\r\nHe was a wonderful man with deep love for his family.\r\n\r\nRhue was born August 10th, 1943 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Rhue J. Webster and Mary Jane Boyer Kalikakis.\r\n\r\nHe married his life partner, best friend, and love of his life, Linda Webster, on August 21st, 1961. It was love at first sight, and it did not take long for Rhue to sweep Linda off her feet. They lived in Salt Lake City for 56 years, where they raised three children. They had an amazing relationship for over 56 years, filled with love and laughter.\r\n\r\nRhue was a wonderful husband, brother, dad, and papa. He was always there for his family and enjoyed spending time with all of them. He touched many lives and always lent a helping hand. His family always came first, making sure they always had the things they needed.\r\n\r\nRhue loved spending time with his family and friends. He enjoyed picnics, Christmas, and camping. He loved going to the University of Utah football games, and made many memories, and friends, tailgating before the games. His favorite holidays were the 4th and 24th of July. He always enjoyed "blowing up the neighborhood" and putting on an amazing firework show for his family. All of the neighbors always knew they were welcome to his home on his favorite holidays.\r\n\r\nRhue overcame several challenges, including living the last 11 years with COPD. Rhue was a member of Alcoholics Anonymous for 23 plus years. He passed away sober, and a member in good standing. He was very proud of his sobriety, and his family was just as proud. His kids, grandkids and great-grandkids thought of him as their dearest friend, and more than just a "PAPA." He was a confidant, encourager, and playmate. He loved spending time with (and spoiling) his grandkids and great-grandkids. His great-grandsons were his pride and joy. He had a deep love for his boys. They were best friends, and they loved playing with Papa, and watching movies. The mother of his great-grandsons was, and will always be, his little princess. She could do no wrong in Papa's eyes, and they shared a loving bond like no other.\r\n\r\nRhue worked as a truck driver for most of his life. He was a teamster and later became a steward for his local 222 union, in an effort to give back to his fellow brothers. Papa owned his own truck, and would haul flatbed from Salt Lake to the east coast, and all over the country.\r\n\r\nHe had a deep love and appreciation for his spirituality, religion and parish, St.Judes. Whether family or friend, Rhue was a wonderful man who saw the best in everyone. He made those around him feel loved, important, and happy. His unconditional love, caring demeanor and light will live on through his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.\r\n\r\nThe Webster family would like to give special thanks to the T6 unit at IMC Murray, especially Jay and Starr. They were his favorite nurses, and he came to love them. A special thanks is offered to Rufus, his smiley aide, and to all of his Home Health professionals and doctors, and also to Murray City Fire station 83 for the many years of taking care of Rhue.\r\n\r\nRhue is survived by his wife Linda, his children; Kim (Lloyd) Ball, Todd Rhue (Cindy) Webster, and Kristin Webster, two grandchildren; Samantha (Jake) Batty, and Jake Rhue Webster, and two great-grandchildren; Colby Rhue Batty and Caden Michael Batty, siblings; John (Carla) Kalikakis, Cindy (Dave) Borg, and Bill (Karalee) Kalikakis.\r\n\r\nHe is preceded in death by his grandparents; John and Helen Boyer, his parents; Rhue Webster, and William and Mary Kalikakis, and his sister Pamela Westby.\r\n\r\nViewing will be held on Friday 8/3 at Neil O'Donnell & Sons Mortuary 372 E. 100 S. 5 p.m.to 6:15, the Rosary will start at 6:30. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday 8/4 at 10 a.m. at St. Jude Catholic Church 4900 S. Wasatch Street 150 E) \r\n\r\nIn lieu of flowers, Rhue would like you to make donations to St. Jude 4893 Wasatch Street Murray, UT. 84107\r\n\r\n
