Robert Paul Quigley's Obituary
Robert Paul Quigley 1933-2023 Bob Quigley 89, passed away peacefully at home on June 21st
2023 surrounded by family. He was born August 18, 1933 in Baltimore Maryland to Bernard and
Edna Quigley. Bob grew up in the Brooklyn Park area and attended Glen Burnie high, Class of
51. He was a volunteer fireman and ambulance coreman (delivered 3 babies before the age of
21). Played the bass fiddle in a hillbilly band in high school. Graduated from the University of
Maryland with a BS in Chemical Engineering in 1957. Married the love of his life, Catherine
Bonnie Imelda Secoura August 25th, 1956. They had 4 children -Barbara Quigley Torkelson
(Dan), Susan Marie Quigley Nishijima (Cory), Robert Christian Quigley (Maren), and Laura Lee
Quigley McCandless (Ray). 8 grand children followed - Jeffery Torkelson, Gregory Torkelson,
Christopher Nishijima (Addison), Danielle Nishijima Wade (Russell), Matthew Quigley
(Mitchell),Michael Quigley, Brenna McCandless-Schiwal (Shawn), Katie McCandless Jensen
(Parker), One great grandchild, Coulter James McCandless-Schiwal. He worked for Hercules
Inc. for 34 years. He began his career as a rocket designer in Cumberland Maryland and moved
the family to Salt Lake City in 1965 to work on the Posiedon missile program. He was named
plant manager at the Clearfield facility in the mid 70's. He returned to the Baccus facility and
retired as the plant Safety manager in 1991. He then worked for the next 22 years as a tax
preparer for H&R Block in the Salt Lake office. Traveled the world with Bonnie -Canada, Mexico,
Argentina, Chile, Bolivia, Cape Horn, Europe, Africa, Japan, and China. Hobbies included
Lapidary, wine making, woodworking, and cooking. Survived by his Sister, Irma Elaine Raynor.
Preceded in death by his parents, Bernard and Edna, and Brother Frederick Neal Quigley.
Interment at Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery June 30th, 2023 at 12:00 PM under the care of Neil
O’Donnell funeral home.
