Robert Glenn Todd's Obituary
Robert Glenn Todd, born April 17, 1925, was a World War II Veteran and has passed away on September 20, 2020. Robert Todd better known as Ben Todd most of his life lived a very full life. He married the love of his life, Joan Hazel Schroeder (better known as Sandy to many), in 1946. They were married 69 years. He earned his Bachelors degree in teaching at Lewis-Clark State College and Western Washington University in Bellingham, Washington. Ben taught various grades in the school system ranging from high school to elementary grades. He also was a grade school principal in northern California. He was a very good teacher because of his creative and artistic ways of presenting his lessons. Ben also was a journeyman carpenter and built many log homes in New Meadows, Kooskia and Mountain Home, Idaho. Ben loved to create items working with wood. Joan would come up with ideas on wood to paint and Ben would go to his shop to create them. They made a great pair. Ben was an owner of many businesses including restaurants in Idaho, Utah and Hawaii. He moved many times but lived most of his life in the northwest. He loved the mountains and found solace being in the woods with a fire burning. Robert (Ben) was also very musical and loved to sing. He directed many choirs in his church and also sang in groups and solos. His favorite song to sing was “I Walked Today Where Jesus Walked.” Robert had five children, four girls and one boy. Robert is preceded in death by his son, Richard, his daughter, Jill Camille Johnson and his beloved wife, Joan. His three living children include, Beverely Anne Telford (Bill), Kathrin Idell Cathcart (Dan) and Laurie Alane Gailey (Rob). Robert has a great posterity with 15 grandchildren, 39 great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren. He will be missed by all his family who has special memories of him playing games and showing interest in them.
