Sandra Lynn Renak's Obituary
On May 24th, 2025, Sandra Lynn (Giacoma) Renak passed away from complications due to Parkinson's Disease. Sandra was born on November 29th, 1950, to James Vincent Di Giacoma and Evelyn (Cummings) Di Giacoma. Sandra lived and loved most of her life in the Salt Lake Valley with short stints in Virginia and Georgia while in service to her country as a Navy Sea woman. On May 28, 1988, Sandra married Jon F. Renak at Fort Douglas.
Sandra's crackling blue eyes and vivacious smile drew all who met her into her circle of friends, and she embraced everyone she met with the same down-to-earth friendliness that made all who met her feel like they belonged.
She loved mystery books, bingo, crossword puzzles, gambling with friends and the WNBA, to name just a few.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her sisters, Sharon Leslie Di Giacoma and Susan Di Giacoma. She is survived by her husband, Jon Renak; her brothers, Pete James and James Vincent, Jr., and her niece Jamie (Giacoma) Stevens.
The family thanks the Serenity Hospice group and all the health care providers who lovingly treated Sandra in her last years.
A funeral service will be celebrated Friday, May 30th, 2025 at 9:00 AM at Saint Patrick's Catholic Church (1040 West 400 South Salt Lake City, UT) with a viewing held at St. Patrick's from 8:30 - 9:00 AM. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery (4th Avenue and T Street).
