Silvia Marti Best's Obituary
Silvia Marti Best, age 80, passed away at her residence surrounded by family. She was born on October 4, 1939 in San Salvador, El Salvador to Mauro Manuel and Rosa Benavides Marti. She married Charles Louis Best.
Silvia was the first of four children. She grew up with her siblings in El Salvador, and attended Siena College in Memphis, Tennessee where she met Charles Louis Best, who she eventually married. They settled in Titusville, Florida, and had four children: Richard, David, Teresa, and Robert. The family moved to Utah and along with raising her children, she was active as a Third Order member of the Carmelites, and frequent visitor to the Trappist monastery in Huntsville. After her children grew up and departed home, she stayed busy with babysitting children, spending time with family and friends, and traveling to the Holy Land on pilgrimages. She was diagnosed with Parkinson's and participated in a study at the University of Utah to research the link between Parkinson's and radiation treatment. The disease eventually claimed her life. She was a beloved wife, mother, friend, and associate of so many in the Catholic community in Bountiful and Salt Lake City and touched many lives in her time.
She is survived by her husband, Charles; her children and her sister, Caroline.
A private family Funeral Mass will be Celebrated. Interment will be at Mount Calvary Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers or gifts, the family asks that those interested in making a conation in memory of Silvia Best do so at the following website: https://www.apdaparkinson.org/19907d31/
