Sophia Anita Hernandez Leon's Obituary
Sophia was born on June 18, 1945 and passed away January 11, 2023. She fought many difficult health issues until the very end. She is no longer suffering and is now pain free.
Sophia is preceded in death by her old man, Johnny Hernandez, who passed away 36 years ago. She is survived by her 5 children -Lisa, Steph, Slugger, Tracy & Dino, 19 grandchildren, and
several great grandchildren.
Sophia was strongly committed to her family. She loved her family very much and especially
loved seeing her grandchildren and family that would stop by to visit. She enjoyed cooking, she cooked amazing Mexican food with her special touches added to her recipes. She enjoyed
being silly, watching older movies, listening to her oldies, and dancing while she was cooking or deaning. Her other favorite past time was drinking a can of coke, smoking a Camel 9 cigarette, working on her word search books, and going for a ride in her motorized chair, trying to not
wipe out anything in the way.
She was so strong, very caring, loving, and independent, which she taught her family to be like this. When she realized she was not comfortable driving, even though she still had her driver's license, she said in case of an emergency, she would take the bus to her favorite places, Kmart and Walmart. She would never deny a day trip to Wendover. We know she would dream of
the slot machine sounds.
Sophia (Mom, grandma, old lady} -I hope you know how much you were loved and
appreciated; you will be missed and forever close to our hearts. We LOVE you, now fly high
with the angels, give your old man a hug from all of us and please continue watching over us.
It's Not Goodbye, It's See You later!
A special thanks to her brother Ed and his friend Jan for being supportive and a big thank you to all the other family and friends.
A private gathering was held Saturday, January 14, 2023 and her ashes will be buried later.
To honor our mothers wishes there will be no funeral services, she will be with us in spirit. Thank you for your understanding.
