Thanh Cong Pham's Obituary
Thanh Cong Pham, age 92, passed away on August 10, 2023 at his residence in West Valley City, UT due to natural causes. Thanh Cong was born on December 4, 1931 in Vietnam to Nguyen Thi Ma (mother) and Pham Van Cong (father). He was married to Anh Hoan Dang on May 27, 1957 at Vinh Long, until Anh Hoan's death on August 19, 2010.
Thanh Cong and Anh Hoan were married for 53 years and have a total of six children: five daughters and one son.
Our dear, sweet, and much beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend peacefully returned to the House of the Lord in his sleep. Thanh Cong was born in Vietnam where his adventurous spirit led him to join the Vietnamese Navy, later becoming a Captain to patrol the many rivers of Southern Vietnam during the Vietnam War. During one of these missions, receding waters caused his boat to be immobile. While waiting for the tide to return, he rallied his contingent and led his men back on land to visit the nearby orchards and village. There, he met his soulmate and eventual wife, Anh Hoan. Their marriage is described as a pre-destined arrangement.
When the South Vietnamese government collapsed during the war, Thanh Cong was sent to a "Re-education Camp," and managed to escape from Vietnam by boat. He later entered the US where his entire family was reunited after ten years.
Thanh Cong touched the lives of many and left behind a legacy of compassion and love. He will be sorely missed by all those who knew him. As we bid him farewell, we also remember all the joy and love he has brought to our lives. Our memories with him will forever be engraved in our hearts. We treasure every moment spent with him.
Thanh Cong Pham will be missed forever. Until we meet again...
Public visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 16, 2023 from 6 PM until 8 PM at Neil O'Donnell Funeral Home. The funeral will be held on Thursday, August 17, 2023 where mass will start at 10 AM at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church.
