I knew Claire through tennis and boy, did I learn quickly not to underestimate a player in her 80s! I enjoyed playing with her a lot more than playing against her although she was always a gracious player. In one friendly match she and I were partners, down 1-5 in the set. When I figured out that I didn\'t need to cover her side of the court we started to rally, and we won the next six games to take the set! A lot of people would get discouraged but never Claire.\r\n\r\nMy mother knew Claire through Catholic circles and when I told her I\'d met Claire she said, \"You know, she has 8 kids and she\'s been a realtor for many years.\" Sure enough, at the end of our match, she handed me a card and said, \"I\'d love to represent you if you ever need a realtor.\" She was tireless.\r\n\r\nI haven\'t been able to play much these last few years but it was always a pleasure to see Claire on the court. She was always friendly and I enjoyed knowing her, if only for a short time. She was an inspiration. My sympathy to her family. If anyone had a life well-lived, it was Claire.
