Claire J. McHugh's Obituary
1929-2018\r\nClaire McHugh passed peacefully surrounded by family on Sunday May 27. Claire was born Jan 27, 1929 on the Exton family farm in PA to George H. and Carrie A. Baldwin. She was the fourth of five children. Claire was raised in West Chester where she attended John Bartram HS, and graduated with a BS in Physical Education from Temple University. She taught at Marple-Newton Joint HS until she married George F. McHugh in 1953. With George's many work transfers, Claire taught in PA, KS, MD, MA, and DE before moving to Utah. Her last job before moving to Utah was girl's athletic director at Sanford School in Hockessin DE. In 1972, Claire moved with her family to SLC. She received her real estate license in 1972. Claire worked ardently and earned all 5 Realtors® designations in short order. She was "Salesman of the Year" in 1994. She loved her career and all those she met and worked with over the years. Claire is survived by her 8 children George F., Anastasia E. (Rob Chirnside), Carolyn B. (Scott Young), John A. (Caroline), Cricket J. (Tom Rollins), Bill W., Elizabeth A., Catherine M. (Javier Garay) and 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. A rosary will be held at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, 1975 S. 2300 E. on Tuesday June 5 at 6:00 p.m. A funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Ambrose, Wednesday June 6 at 11:00 a.m. with committal at Mt. Calvary, 4th Ave. T St. An open house will be at Red Butte Café, 1414 S. Foothill Dr. on June 6 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, you may donate to a charity of your choice.
