Ida Marie Barela's Obituary
Ida Marie Barela was born December 14, 1935, in San Antonio, Colorado, to Cleotillde Salaz and Jose Ruybal. She married Lucas Barela on January 10, 1953, in Monte Vista, Colorado. They moved to Salt Lake City, Utah in 1958. Ida was a hard worker at many jobs, including at the Hotel Utah, St. Regis Paper Co, and at the Salt Lake City School Cafeteria department.
Ida is survived by five children - Bettty Teresa, Stephane (Michael) Sayers, Luke, Rodney and Judy. Ida has 11 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and 5 great-great grandchildren. Her siblings were Bertha Duran (deceased), Max Gallegos (deceased), Francisco Salas, Rubel Salaz, Modesto Salaz (deceased), and Cora https://Cisneros.She was preceded in death by her husband Lucas, son Bobby, and daugther Benita.
A funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday, February 9 at 11 a.m. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 1040 W 400 S, SLC. A vigil service service will be held earlier that same day at the St. Patrick's from 9 to 10:30 a.m., followed by a rosary at 10:30 a.m.
Committal will be at Utah Veterans Memorial Park at 2:00 p.m. on February 18.
