Roger L. Casuse's Obituary
Our beloved father, brother, and friend, Roger Leonard Casuse, made his voyage to the final frontier at 59 years 6 months and 5 days on Stardate 99920.54 (4/28/2022). I think we can all agree that our free-spirited Trekkie would bereave us with a quote from one of his favorite Starfleet members, Spock. “Don’t grieve, Admiral. It is logical.”
Roger Casuse was a very talented artist birthed into a family of Navajo silversmiths, to Mildred Fern Lopez and Joel Glenn Casuse on October 25th, 1962, in Gallup, New Mexico. Taught by his grandfather, Keith Begay, Roger has been known for his unique style, craftsmanship, and creative design in his silver work. He was a perfectionist at heart, honing his innovative ability with every new piece of jewelry and has proven to be, “One of the best silversmiths in Utah.”, with his traditional squash blossom necklace commissioned for the Huntsman’s Cancer Institute charity.
In all his years, Roger taught his friends and family many things. He always warned us of the local and endless dangers of the vast depths of space and time. Most importantly, Roger enthused and praised those he loved on how they used their abilities and talents to the fullest. A simple goodbye is not enough for our unforgettable Dark Warrior, but I believe Lt. Tasha Yar, of the Starfleet Starship USS Enterprise-D said it best, “Death is that state in which one exists only in the memory of others. Which is why it is not an end. No goodbyes. Just good memories. Hailing frequencies closed, sir.”
In death Roger follows his father, Joel Casuse, His mother, Mildred “Millie” Lopez, younger sisters, Jackie Lynn Casuse, and Jolanda Fern Casuse.
Left to Cherish his memory are his sisters, Corie Begaye, Del Becenti, Laura Palczynky-Blackshear, Geraldine Casuse, Billy Jo Casuse, brother, Fritz Casuse, and his children Roger Jr., Celia, UGene, Michael, Audrey, Aujenette, Carolene, and Veronica, along with aunts, uncles, cousins, and many close friends who were like family to him.
Roger’s final departure, to boldly go unto the next world will be held at Neil O’Donnell Funeral Home in Salt Lake City, UT for immediate family on May 6th, 2022.
